Acceptable Use Policy
Version 2026-08-01 — effective 31 July 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy sets clear boundaries for the AI tutor chat and related features in BananaBoat Academy — what the chat is for, what you may send, and what is not allowed. It supplements our Terms of Service. By using the Academy chat, you agree to follow this policy.
1. Scope
This policy applies to:
- Messages you send to the AI tutor in the web Academy and in the BananaBoat plugin
- Files and data you attach to a chat turn (for example mix analysis data, MIDI, short audio clips, or images)
- Saved conversations, lesson highlights, and summaries derived from chat
- Practice or goal prompts that are sent to the tutor from the lesson dashboard
It does not replace the Terms of Service. Where both apply, the stricter rule for safety and legality prevails.
2. What the chat is for
The tutor is a music-production learning tool. Use it to ask about theory, mixing, arrangement, sound design, your DAW, and your own works in progress.
The chat is not a general-purpose assistant, a place for unrelated homework or coding help, customer support for other companies, or a channel for promoting products or services.
Keep conversations relevant to learning and improving as a producer. We may limit or refuse requests that are clearly outside this purpose.
3. Allowed use
You may:
- Ask questions at your skill level and use tutor sliders to control how answers are phrased
- Attach your own mix metrics, MIDI, screenshots of your session, or short audio clips when the feature is available on your plan, so feedback can refer to your project
- Save chats you want to revisit, highlight useful lines, and use the dashboard to turn sessions into practice ideas or goals
- Open a saved practice idea or goal in the Academy so the tutor can help you work on it
- Use reasonable follow-up questions in the same thread to go deeper on a topic you are learning
You must still comply with copyright and privacy law: only submit material you have the right to use and share for this purpose.
4. Prohibited content in chat
Do not send messages or attachments that:
- Violate any law or encourage illegal activity
- Infringe copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property (for example full commercial tracks or stems you are not licensed to use, unless your question is limited to lawful fair use or learning context you are entitled to)
- Contain malware or attempt to compromise our or our providers' systems
- Are harassing, hateful, threatening, or sexually exploitative, especially involving minors
- Include someone else's private or personal data without their consent (for example recordings of people who have not agreed to be analyzed)
- Promote violence, self-harm instructions, or extremist material
- Are spam, bulk-generated noise, or repetitive automated prompts intended to exhaust resources
Do not ask the tutor to produce content that falls into the categories above, even as a "hypothetical" or "for a friend."
5. Prohibited conduct
Do not:
- Bypass limits — tokens, plan features, rate limits, authentication, or save-chat rules
- Automate the chat — bots, scripts, or scrapers that send tutor messages outside normal human use of the app or documented interfaces
- Probe or attack — security testing, prompt-injection campaigns, or attempts to extract hidden system prompts, other users' data, or model weights
- Misrepresent identity — impersonate another person, artist, or rights holder
- Resell or repackage — offer tutor access to third parties or use outputs to operate a competing tutoring service at scale
- Rely blindly on output — the tutor can be wrong; do not treat answers as legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical advice (see Terms of Service)
We may use automated and manual review to detect abuse. False reports or attempts to manipulate moderation are themselves a breach.
6. Attachments and audio clips
When you attach mix data, MIDI, images, or region audio:
- Send only what is needed for your question; do not upload unrelated or excessive files
- Stay within length and size limits shown in the product and on your plan (longer clips may require a higher tier)
- Understand that attachments for a single turn may be processed for that request and are not necessarily stored in your saved chat history (see our Privacy Policy)
- Do not upload content that identifies children or non-consenting third parties in a way that violates their privacy
Region audio analysis consumes more tokens than a plain message — use it when you genuinely want listening-based feedback, not to burn allowance or stress systems.
7. Enforcement
If we believe you have breached this policy or the Terms of Service, we may, proportionately:
- Refuse or truncate a message or attachment
- Remove saved content
- Temporarily limit chat, attachments, or dashboard features
- Suspend or terminate your account
- Report serious illegal content to authorities where required
We are not obliged to monitor every message in advance. Lack of action on one occasion does not waive our right to act later.
You can report concerns about chat abuse or illegal content to [email protected].
