Security & uploaded content

  • Where is my audio processed?
Most mix analysis runs in your browser on your device. Waveform, loudness, and spectrum views are computed locally so you can inspect a track without sending the full file to our servers for basic analyzer work.
  • What gets sent to the AI tutor?
When you chat, we send the messages and context needed for a useful reply — for example mix metrics, a short audio clip you attach for region analysis, or MIDI summaries you choose to include. We do not use your uploads to train public models. Attachments you add only for a single turn may not be stored in your saved chat history.
  • How is my account data protected?
Sign-in is handled through Supabase Auth. Saved conversations and account settings are stored in our database and tied to your user id. Use a strong password and keep your email verified so you can recover access and use paid features safely.

Tokens & usage

  • What counts as a token?
Tokens are credits for tutor interactions. A plain chat message costs 1 token. Attaching mix or MIDI context for analysis costs 2 tokens. Sending a region audio clip for listening-style analysis costs 3 tokens.
  • How many tokens do I get on the free tier?
Free accounts include 15 tokens total for the lifetime of the account — not per month. When they are used up, upgrade to Basic or Pro for a monthly allowance. If you have not been able to decide whether BananaBoat Academy is for you, email [email protected] and ask for a few extra tokens.
  • Do paid tokens reset?
Basic includes 300 tokens per month and Pro includes 800 tokens per month. Your allowance refreshes each billing period. Free-tier tokens do not reset once the lifetime pool is spent.

Plans & tiers

  • What is the difference between Free, Basic, and Pro?
Free includes the full Academy workspace, lesson dashboard, saved tutor chats (up to 50), browser mix tools, and 15 lifetime tokens. Basic adds 300 tokens per month and region audio in chat. Pro increases the monthly allowance to 800 tokens, stores up to 300 saved chats, and allows longer chat audio clips (60s vs 30s on Free and Basic). When you save a new chat beyond your limit, the oldest saved chat is removed automatically.
  • Who can use the lesson dashboard?
All verified accounts can use the lesson dashboard, save tutor chats (within your plan’s limit), generate practice ideas from saved sessions, and continue threads from the Academy. Free tier uses your lifetime token pool; Basic and Pro include a larger monthly allowance.
  • How do I upgrade or change my plan?
Open the Pricing page while logged in to start checkout for Basic or Pro. Billing is handled through our payment provider. You can manage subscription details from your account area once subscribed.

Academy & tools

  • Can I use the Academy on mobile?
Yes. On a phone you can open the Academy tutor chat, attach images, spend tokens as usual, and save chats to your dashboard. Mix analysis, MIDI tools, and region audio attachments need a larger screen — open the Academy on desktop for the full workspace.
  • What are Mixing help and Theory help?
Mixing help focuses on uploaded audio: levels, spectrum, and mix feedback. Theory help focuses on MIDI and musical ideas, including piano-roll style tools. Both share the same tutor chat; switch tools with the tabs in the Academy workspace.
  • Will my chat still be there when I come back?
While you stay in the same browser session, your Academy chat is restored locally so you can visit Account or other pages and return without losing the thread. Saved conversations on Basic and Pro sync to your account and appear on the dashboard.

Account & support

  • Why do I need a verified email?
Verified email unlocks the Academy, token usage, and checkout. It also helps with password reset and keeps your account secure.
  • How do I report a bug or ask for help?
Use the feedback form (linked in the footer) for bugs and feature ideas, or email [email protected] for general support. We aim to reply within a few business days.
